Palace of Palenque
Citation
The above image is what the palace is thought to have looked like when it was complete. This restoration is from Momuments Anciens du Mexique. Note the amazing spire and the size of the building compared to the people in the painting. This was, obviously, an enormous building. The dimensions of the actual building are 310 feet by 260 feet. The stairs led up 40 feet, where they meet the court area, which is 180 feet by 228 feet. From the stairs, the building is 25 feet high.
This palace is thought to be the main ceremonial and residential building of the king. Adding to the magnificent look of the structure is what was placed within. Included in the final building were urinals, a steambath, running water fed by an aquiduct, air vents, alters, and thrones. Truely, this king lived in style.
