Hans Jürgen Kleist was born in 1957 in Saarbrücken, the capital of the smallest State of the Federal Republic of Germany. Here, near the border to France, he grow up. In 1975 he enrolled in a Jesuit boarding school in the Black Forrest, named Kolleg St. Blasien (College but roughly equivalent to a high school in the U.S. system). This was an important decision for the course of his life, because after his philosophical-theological studies in the ancient Roman city of Trier he entered the Jesuit Novitiate in Nürnberg (1983 - 1985). After two years of regency (1985 - 1987) in his former secondary school, he went to Munich to study Mathematics and Psychology at the 'Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität' (till 1993). He was ordained a priest in 1988 and also did some work at the Jesuit school of Philosophy, which is called the 'Hochschule für Philosophie'. He received practical training in teaching both Mathematics and Psychology and also counseling Psychology at Augsburg and Freising (1993 - 1995). Since 1995 his main occupation has been that of teacher and tutor in the Jesuit boarding school 'Kolleg St. Blasien', where he will return after his tertianship in Manila, Philippines.Hans Jürgen Kleist wurde 1957 in Saarbrücken, der Hauptstadt des kleinsten Landes der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, geboren. Hier, nahe der französischen Grenze wuchs er auf. Seit 1975 besuchte er das Jesuiteninternat im Schwarzwald, das Kolleg St. Blasien. Eine bedeutsame Entscheidung, weil er nach den philosophisch-theologischen Studien in der alten Römerstadt Trier in das Noviziat der Oberdeutschen Provinz der Gesellschaft Jesu in Nürnberg eintrat (1983 - 1985). Nach zwei Jahren praktischer Arbeit, dem Interstiz von 1985 bis 1986, in seinem ehemaligen Gymnasium, kam er nach München, um an der Ludwigs-Maximilans-Universität Mathematik und Psychologie zu studieren. 1988 wurde er zum Priester geweiht und engagierte sich in dieser Zeit an der „Hochschule für Philosophie" der Jesuiten. Anschließend absolvierte er das Referendariat für das Lehramt an Gymnasien in seinen beiden Fächern und psychologischer Beratung in Augsburg und Freising (1993 - 1995). Seit 1995 ist seine Hauptaufgabe als Lehrer und Erzieher am Jesuiteninternat Kolleg St. Blasien, wohin er nach dem Terziat in Manila auf den Philippinen zurückkehren wird.
