November 23
Blessed Miguel's Feast Day

Fr. Miguel Pro, S.J.

November 23 is Blessed Miguel’s feast day. I want to urge each of you to celebrate it in some special way.  A little "fiesta" with famiily friends would be a good idea. You might attend Mass and perhaps set up a little corner where you display something that will cause you to especially remember our merry Mexican martyr on his day. If you have a statue or reliquary you might use that as a centerpiece. If not, perhaps you could display his picture. For those of you in chilly climates, why not drink a toast with Mexican hot chocolate? It is easy to make and delicious. I’ll gladly send the directions to any of you who would like it.  Mention Miguel to at least one friend this week. And please ask God, if it is His will, to let one of the pending miracles be approved so Miguel can enjoy the full honors of the altar. Don’t forget to ask Miguel for a favor! If there is nothing especially critical pending on your prayer list this week, then ask him to flood you with the true spirit of Thanksgiving and to infuse you with his joy this week.  In Christ,

Ann

P.S. Be sure to check out our recipe for one of Fr. Pro's favorite foods, cocol.

MASS OF BLESSED MICHAEL AUGUSTINE PRO, S.J.

PRIEST AND MARTYR

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

Here is a true martyr who shed his blood for Christ;
his judges Could not shake him by their menaces,
and so he won through to the kingdom of heaven.

OPENING PRAYER

God our Father,
you gave your servant Michael Augustine
the grace to seek ardently your greater glory
and the salvation of your people.
Grant that, through his intercession
and following his example,
we may serve you and glorify you
by performing our daily duties with fidelity and joy
and effectively helping our neighbor.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

God of love,
pour out your blessing on our gifts
and make our faith strong,
the faith which Blessed Michael Augustine professed by shedding
his blood.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

COMMUNION ANTIPHON

I am the vine and you are the branches, says the
Lord; he who lives in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit.
[Jn. 15,5]

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Lord,
we are renewed by the mystery of the eucharist.
By imitating the fidelity of Blessed Michael Augustine and by your patience
may we come to share the eternal life you have promised.
We ask this in the name Of Jesus the Lord.

Probatum seu' confltmatum.
