¡ Viva Cristo Rey ! |
One who holds an especially treasured memory of Pro’s hidden ministry is Mother Mary Angel of the Carmelite monastery in New Caney. In 1927 she was bundled into a cloak to cover her white dress and taken to a private home where she received First Holy Communion from the young Father Pro. Esperanza Mendoza joined the Carmelites in Mexico at the age of 15. Three days after her entrance, the community fled to Texas for safety
Even during the persecutions, First Communion was such a big event in the life of a child in Mexico that the children were taken to a photographer to be photographed. This photo of Esperanza Mendoza was made in front of a photographer's backdrop.
