Relic Card of Blessed Miguel Pro in German

Grandfather

Grandson

A young man from, Essex, UK, treasures the memory of his grandfather, a Gunner during W.W.II. Recently he wrote to us:

"In my house I have two large suitcases full of my parents/grandparents belongings. Photographs, personal items, in fact everything that reminds me of them as they have all passed away. Every month or so I go through it all as it makes me feel like I am close to them again. I miss them so much.

What really surprised me tonight was when I was looking through my grandfathers war photos when he was in Germany, I suddenly noticed something in the sleeve of the large envelope that he kept his photos in. I took it out carefully, as it was very delicate, and to my surprise it was a card. I had never seen this before after all the dozens of times I had looked at these photos.

What did it mean? A portrait of a man who looked like a priest, yet below it a shocking scene of that same man ( I asumed ) being executed. Even more interesting was the small piece of red material that peeped through a hole below all this. On the reverse of the card there were words but it was all in German, a language I cannot read.

Thankfully I have a computer and I was straight onto the internet and here I am after finding your website. Clicking on your People of Pro link and then the Relic cards of Pro link I was amazed to see my card. It is the one on the right."

John asked what we knew about the relic, and we were able to translate the German for him. What a lucky find for John - it is a first class relic, a piece of cloth with Pro's blood on it!

John is very happy to have made a new "friend" of Miguel, but still curious about how his grandfather obtained it. We think it was like a little favor from Miguel to remind John that one day he will greet his grandfather again.

Speaking of the finding of the relic, John says: "It has taken me on a journey and I am enjoying the ride. Miguel has entered my life and now I hope he will stay."

We could not translate all of the card, but the part we could read is below. Thanks to our friend Karin Murthough who translated as much as she could see for us. The handwritten message: "Love thy Mothers"

The Prayer: Oh God, Our Lord and Our Father, in whom Pro with trusted with such childlike love, let it be known that his work for healing body and soul and his giving up his life was worthy of you and you will grand him and us salvation for which we beg. And when you and your persecuted church reach acceptance, allow us as your servants to see the acceptance of all altars.

Our Father, Hail Mary.

Below the prayer: Pro was shot Nov 23, 1927 out of hate, for he believed in HIS King "Jesus" (letter from Karl Gass…..something, on Dec 19, 1927 from the Capital of Mexico, hailed as the apostle he was, he was 37 years old. )

The seal shows that it is from the blood of the martyr (Blutes des Pater Pro)
