In the Orthodox Tradition it is usual to have present at the wedding ceremony a special pair of icons, one of Christ the Saviour and another of the Mother and Child. During the service the icons are held within the folds of a linen embroidered white cloth. These same icons then become the couples "wedding icons" and are given a place of high honor in the home of the newlyweds . The wedding icons will remain with the couple throughout the rest of your life and will adorn their home's prayer corner.
En la Tradición Cristiana Ortodoxa es usual el tener presente en le ceremonia de matrimonio, una pareja de Iconos, uno de Nuestro Señor y otro de la Santísima Virgen y el Niño. Durante el servicio, los iconos son llevados entre los dobleces de una tela de lino bordada. Estos iconos serán llamados “Iconos Nupciales”,y se les daré un lugar de honor en la casa de los novios. Los Iconos Nupciales permanecerán con la pareja durante toda sus vidas y adornaran el Rincón de Oración .
A Prayer for Married Couples:
Lord Jesus Christ, by Your presence You blessed the wedding in Canaan and showed us that You are the true priest of mystical and pure marriage. We thank You for the day on which by Your heavenly blessing You joined us in the sacrament of marriage. Lord, continue to bless and enrich our marriage in love companionship, mutual support, oneness of heart and progress in faith and life. Protect our Holy wedlock from sin, evil and danger. Nurture between us the spirit of understanding, the spirit of forgiveness and the spirit of peace, that no resentment, quarrel or other problem may cause us to stumble and fall. Grant us to see our own faults and not to judge each other. Keep our bond of love always new. Gladden our lives with the joys of marriage, that with one heart we may praise and glorify You. Amen.
Oración para la Pareja
Señor Jesús, por medio de Tu presencia, bendijiste las bodas de Canaan, y nos mostraste que solo Tu eres el verdadero Sacerdote del místico y puro matrimonio.Te damos gracias por este día en el que por Tu bendición celestial, nos has unido en el sacramento nupcial. Señor, continua bendiciendo y enriqueciendo nuestro matrimonio en amor, compañerismo, apoyo mutuo,unión del corazón y progreso en la fe y en la vida. Protege nuestra Santa unión, del pecado, la maldad y el peligro. Haz crecer entre nosotros el espíritu del entendimiento, el espíritu del perdón y el espíritu de la paz, que ningún resentimiento,pelea u otro problema nos haga tropezar y caernos. Danos la gracia de ver nuestras propias faltas y no juzgarnos mutuamente. Manten nuestra unión de Amor, siempre nueva. Contenta nuestras vidas con las alegrías del matrimonio, que con un solo corazón podamos alabarte y glorificarte. Amen.
