Prayer in the Time of War With
the La Storta Christ and
His Martyrs

O Blessed Lamb of God
who still bears the weight
of the cross,
and all the martyrs who
follow you,
holy endless line of martyrs
through the centuries,
by your powerful cries from
beneath the Altar of the Lamb,
may we rise with you above the
fear that keeps us silent
in the time of war, murder,
injustice, slander, abuse...
all violence.
Living martyrs,
give us the courage to
speak with you
to speak the Christ
to speak the Truth
without counting the cost
without vengance toward
the murderous
the cowardly
the perpetrators.
May we quench the flame of
retaliation and be crowned with
the flame of love
which gave the first trembling apostles,
paralyzed by this world,
a new birth
a new voice
a re-creating Pentecost.
All this we bed in the Name of
the first-born of the dead,
the one who was and is and
is to come bringing
His kingdom of Mercy and Justice,
Jesus Christ Morning and
Evening Star.

Amen
