Next To Me


Montoya's patio today
alive with tourists and
next to me,
a man who bought a boy
was waiting to consume him.
Then my eyes began to fill
at the many times I was
sold to illusion
robbed of dignity
molested by power
and at the times
too numerous to recount,
I have given myself away
for far less
than either one
next to me.
