I Saw A Young Father

I saw a young father
with his child.
He was wheeling a stroller
through the airport
and made a great circle
on the red carpet at gate seventeen.
His face was stern and guarded,
the very mask of masculinity,
then the child reached for him,
tiny arms and hands up-like-prayer,
and the young man bent low,
mask fell,
the father became a child
and the circle closed.
