The Greek Minor entails 12 hours
of the study of Greek at the 201-level or higher plus 6 hours of upper-division
CNE or GRK, or 6 hours at any level in ARA, HEB, or LAT. Normally, a student
pursuing the Minor will take GRK 201-301 (or 303)-and two 4xx courses, plus
the two electives. This Minor is an excellent choice for Classical and Near
Eastern Civilizations majors desiring further specialization in Greek than the
Major offers, or for students who have taken Greek to satisfy the CORE and wish
to go on with it but cannot declare the Classical Languages Major.
This Minor is not open to students pursuing the Classical Languages Major.
This is the only systematic program
in Ancient History at Creighton. The Minor entails four courses selected from
among the basic upper-division Near Eastern, Greek, and Roman history sequences,
followed by two electives taken from a prescribed palette of historically-oriented
courses. This Minor is an excellent choice for Classical Languages majors wishing
to go on to graduate study.
NB: Some courses which can be taken to satisfy the Ancient History Minor
are not given HIS credit by the History Department.

A comparatively unstructured minor,
students can satisfy its requirements with 18 hours of any upper-division courses
(300-, 400- or 500-level) under the CNE rubric. This Minor is good for students
who have taken some CANES courses, like the field and want to take more courses,
but haven't time for the Major, or to satisfy the breadth requirements of the
other Minors. It is also an excellent complement to the Classical Languages
Major for those wishing to add cultural studies to their study of language,
or desiring to go on to graduate study in Classics.
This Minor is not open to students pursuing the Classical and Near Eastern
Civilizations Major.
The Latin Minor entails 12 hours
of the study of Latin at the 201-level or higher plus 6 hours of upper-division
CNE or LAT, or 6 hours at any level in ARA, GRK, or HEB. Normally, a student
pursuing the Minor will take LAT 201-301 (or 303)-and two 4xx courses, plus
the two electives. This Minor is an excellent choice for Classical and Near
Eastern Civilizations majors desiring further specialization in Latin than the
Major offers, or for students who have taken Latin to satisfy the CORE and wish
to go on with it but cannot declare the Classical Languages Major.
This Minor is not open to students pursuing the Classical Languages
Major.
