My electronic camera quickly helped me make friends-- take a picture and show the results. It was a good ice breaker even though there has not been ice in Kiangan for thousands of years! The children in the area really took to this and soon each morning I was greeted with "Father Picture" or "Father Camera"! In return, the kids were very good about sharing their Christmas candy with me whenever they had any!!
