The Road Report
Last Day at Villa: Road Home
November 29, 1998

The last day of villa saw a spectauclar sunrise. Up on the roof I had a most spectacular view of the surrounding mountains as the dawn came up "like thunder". So I grabbed my camera so you all could see it also. The ride home was through these specacular mountains down to the lowlands and back to Quezon City.

Dawn from the villa house roof.

Early morning sunrise on the hills. The large building with courtyard at the bottom right of the photo is an Augustinian seminary.

Here is Mt. Ste. Thomas. Four of us hiked (the road was too good to qualifiy as a climb!) up to the very top (you can vaguly see the radar and other electroinc equipment up there-- computer enhanced to ease your view!!!).

A better view of the top of the mountain--- terraced gardens cover the inside slopes of the mountains. 'We hiked both areas with equipment but did NOT climb the fences around the antennae!

View of river and South China Sea from the roof of Mirador. The clarity the last morning was spectacular.

A view of some of the spectacular scenery on the bus ride home. That's Peter Pradka's profile-- can you say that three times fast?

Terraced gardens typical of this area-- the famous terraced rice paddies were nine hours from here so we decided not to go there!!!

Close up of the terraces-- this was taken from the bus window.
