The Road Report
Porro Point and
San Fernando La Union
October 13, 1998

Tourism is pretty thin here except for the local Buddhist temple and the beach..... here are some images taken on the second day of the trip.

Beached boat... all the boats in this village have the same prow design.

Bad Inglish? Not really, phonetically the i has a sound closest to e in engine. Engenious, no?

One of the local fishermen tries his luck in the morning-- only two fish!

The fishing village built along the beach.

A boy and his sister pose on the beach-- she is less interested in the camera than in her sibling!

Pull out a camera and people run... in front of it!!! I wanted a picture of the guards with the GUNS-- and this guy comes bounding up the stairs to get in there.... after I took the picture some more people showed up for a picture!! Apparently this behavior is reserved for foreigners!

The local Buddhist temple with a very distinctive name!!!

A tower at the corner of the temple.

An ornamental gate with a spectacular view of the South China Sea.

The inside of the temple.

A statue in the garden. Not sure who it is but it looks like some of the Jesuits who taught me philosophy!

A dragon in front of the temple.
