The Road Report
Scenes From The Daily Jog....
September 6, 1998

Every day it is not raining I take a jog to the High School track, around the track a few times and then back to Loyola House of Studies.... come along with me so you can see the scenery and enjoy the views.... and even meet a few people along the way....

Edwin and Bernie, my two computer gurus and friends from the Theology school-- they set me up with my connection!! Thanks guys!

Statue of "Mama Mary" in Main Chapel-- decorated for September 8-- Birth of Mary. Note statue is dressed in real clothes!

My jog takes me in the morning up this winding path under some plumeria trees....

The flowers of these trees are beautiful and have an almost overpowering fragrance...

as do the the exhaust pipes of the many cars without any emissions controll!

This is the path to the "Wildlife Preserve"-- I think it leads back to the Jesuit House

Further down the road I run under a series of flame trees.....

Look Up! They offer shade and a lovely view as you go under them.... they bloom bright red, thus the name-- they are not in bloom now....unfortunately!

Almost to the high school track which is far enough away from the road to avoid the exhaust!!

A wayside shrine..... The Philippines is a VERY Catholic country-- you can attend Liturgy at most of the major malls right in the main mall area-- and buy Mass Cards in most any grocery store!!!

The Ateneo High School main arcade down to the track-- watch the newspapers and students!

Tree on the high school campus decorated with ferns and hanging lights!

Some friendly high school students who were guarding a statue.....

And the statue of "Mama Marry" as the Blessed Mother is called in the Philippines-- there was a soda bottle and food plate in front of it... the guys removed them for the photo! The image was to be used in a play-- again dressed in real clothing!

Ah we are finally at the track (with field house on one end)... the track is a bit overgrown but.....

this is the spectacular view between the trees along one edge of the track!! Well worth the jog!!!!
