Quizzes

Be prepared to take a quiz on the assigned reading material (usually at the beginning of class on the day the material was assigned).  There will be eight quizzes over assigned reading material at each class session, unless an examination has been scheduled.  They will be used to provide an accurate assessment of your mastery of assigned reading, and to identify difficulties in understanding material before they become a problem.

After you have completed the quiz I will distribute examples of good answers to both questions, and ask you to evaluate your own performance and assign yourself a grade, using criteria provided.  I will then review your quiz and assign what I believe to be an appropriate grade using the same criteria.  If you disagree, you may explain the basis for your disagreement in writing and I will consider it.
